As the Italians call it, Pizza Rustica is a delicious main dish (Savory Pie), filled with everything you love. Here is our recipe for Pizza Rustica filled with Ricotta, fresh Italian sausage, Parmesan, and mozzarella cheese.
300gr. Of Ricotta,
Freshly grounded pepper,
250gr. Of fresh sausage* or ( minced meat),
200gr of Mozzarella cheese
Round puff pastry**
*If you have difficulties finding fresh Italian sausage, you can use minced meat by mixing it with some white wine, salt, and black pepper. Usually, this is in our Italian sausages.
The first is to mix in a giant ball the Ricotta together with the four eggs, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese. We are using a fork to combine all our ingredients.
Mix all well
Then add the mozzarella cheese to small pieces.
- Put the fresh sausage without the skin or the grounded meat in a pan and fry a bit till the water comes out, and once it is ready, please put it in the ball with the other ingredients.
Then put the puff pastry in a round tray and fix it well to cover the walls.
- Pour the mixture inside and cover with the edges.
After that, mix one egg in the same bowl we had used in the ingredients and spread it on the top of our rustic pizza.
Bake it in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 50 min. Till became brown and crispy.
