Zuppa di mussels Italian Recipe or l’impepata di cozze

Mussels are a traditional Neapolitan sea dish that is easy to prepare and tasty. Dish of the Parthenon era, which contains only two ingredients, mussels, and black pepper, has low-calorie content and is perfect for an appetizer for hot summer days accompanied by a glass of chilled Italian white wine.

Mussels contain many trace elements such as selenium, zinc, iodine, manganese, cobalt, and honey, many amino acids, and vitamins such as BB-12, E, C, and A. Selenium is essential for preventing cardiovascular disease and positively affects the function of the liver. Manganese helps to normalize metabolism and strengthen bones. In addition, mussels have a rich content of zinc, which is essential for the synthesis of testosterone, the male hormone. Mussels also have a beneficial effect on thyroid activity since this seafood is rich in iodine. This element’s presence in the human body depends on the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, as well as the excellent work of the entire endocrine system. Moreover, this seafood is rich in B vitamins.

Here is our recipe for Zuppa DI Mussels Italian style or black pepper mussels:

Ingredients for two servings:

1 kg Mussels

Black pepper

Directions:

  • Clean the mussels well under running water, removing the formations from the shell and cleaning the beard.

  • Put the mussels in a saucepan and sprinkle with black pepper. Cover with a lid.

  • There is no need to pour water; the mussels contain water in their shell. Also, there is no need for salt; the mussels are themselves salty from the seawater contained in their shells.

  • Cooking the mussels takes no more than 10 minutes. Stir frequently.

  • The mussels are ready when all the mussels are open.

!!! CAUTION: Do not eat the mussels if they are not opened after the cooking process. !!!

How to eat: with hands, you squeeze in the shell over each mussel lemon juice from a fresh cut lemon and drop from the sauce from the saucepan.

This is the most popular, delicious, and easy recipe for preparing the mussels (cozze). Of course, there are many other ways to sauté them with white wine, parsley, garlic, chili, and many more, but that is a different recipe and test.

Buon appetito 🙂
